At the moment I’m back in Holland and therefore I will write my blog now in English for the people who read my blog as well.
Yesterday i woke up around 8am to prepare myself for the flight to the Netherlands. I was a bit hangover because I went clubbin with Janith and Liny (see pics on fb) So after my 4 hours sleep, I showered and made myself some breakfast. I was already packed, so there was nothing more to do, so I went to the bus. I think it was around 9am that I went to the bus stop (I'm telling all these time details because its a time story ;) ). The bus arrived at the Victoria square 10 min later, so i took a walk to New street, to get on the train to Brum international airport. After buying the ticket i saw that the virgin train was delayed for 15 min. The actual time of departure was 9:30am and i was there at 9:35am. So I was lucky I though because of the 15 min delay. Once at the platform, i noticed that the platform was packet with people (doesn't matter I thought I only need one stop). It was 9:45am and no train… 9:50am no train… (at that time I thought I’m ok, because my gate closes at 10:30am and my flight goes at 11:00am). At 10:02am the train finally came and we all went on board ( a lot more people off coarse) When everyone was boarded, the train didn't move an inch! it was already 10:10am. Two minutes later the train started moving, FINALLY! But after 30 meters, the train stopped again! someone pulled the emergency brake!! This means that the doors remained closed and that the train manager should do some kind of procedure. But the train manager couldn't been found! (we heard this all over the speaker) After the train was reset and we could give the trip of 12 minutes another try, it was already 10:32am!! The gate was already closed now…
At 10:45am the train arrived at the international airport. I ran very fast to light rail and hade a good connection on that. Then I ran further to terminal 2. Once there I discovered a massive que for the boarding station. I told a person from the airport that i need to get on the plane of 11:00am. He told me, that i just should join the que, and when the airplane is about to depart, we will pick you out of the que. After 6 min I was boarding. When the women behind the desk scanned my ticket, her screen turned red! Late boarder it said! The women said directly that i needed to follow her, and I bypassed the que for the metal detector. From this point I received a special treatment because I was a late boarder. This special treatment contains that i need to strip myself from my shoes and belt etc. I was body searched very carefully and they put my computer trough a separate x-ray examination. My whole bag was turned inside out, and all my books where searched page by page. Also a check on explosives was performed. When the check was done, all my stuff was everywhere! So I wrapped everything as quick as possible in my bag and ran in the tax-free shopping area, looking for my gate…
I couldn't find my gate! I ran around the shopping area, and finally found it. It was a few minutes after 11. Once there the plane was still there so i wanted to walk through the gate, until a person of staff stopped me! She asked my if I want to put my bag into “the” basket. This basket is there to check if your dimensions of your hang luggage is not to big. My bag was eventually to big! I needed to pay £35 extra to bring that stuff! What I did instead is to take out my underwear out of my bag, and put it in my pockets. So with my boxer and socks out of my pockets, I went to the gate. There I needed to show my ticket once more, but I lost it during the rushing at the metal detector. After a few minutes I found it finally, and I ran to the plane. Once on the plane, I finally back to normal.
